Idaho Electric Bike Laws

Three-class law · State parks: Class 1-2 on some trails

House Bill 76 adopted the three-class system in 2019 and treats an e-bike with operable pedals and a motor under 750 W as a bicycle. Riders need no license, registration or insurance, and Idaho sets no state minimum age or helmet rule for any class. House Bill 500 (2026), effective July 1, 2026, gives e-bike riders the rights and duties of other drivers and requires drivers to use due care around them.
