Montana Electric Bike Laws

No three-class law · State parks: Varies by park

Montana has not adopted the three-class system; the 2025 Montana Code still has a single definition. MCA 61-8-102 defines an electrically assisted bicycle as a two-wheeled vehicle whose electric motor can propel a 170-pound rider no faster than 20 mph on level pavement, and counts it as a bicycle. The state sets no minimum age, helmet, license or registration rule for e-bikes.
